Alaskan Yellow Cedar Wood Cable Railings

Alaskan Yellow Cedar combines the density, longevity, and resilience of any hardwood with a bright coloration typically reserved for more delicate woods. Technically a member of the Cypress family, this vibrant hardwood has become increasingly popular for construction purposes, especially those involving water, such as boats, bridges, etc. Boasting durability, stability, and a natural resistance to decay, craftsman choose Alaskan Yellow Cedar when they want to build something special that will last.

AVERAGE ORDER: $75-95/LF (Varies depending on configuration)

Options:

  1. Choose what kind of posts you’d like: ALUMINUMROUND STAINLESS, or SQUARE STAINLESS.
  2. For stainless steel posts, we suggest our 2×4 or 2×6 top rails. For Aluminum, choose any of our four sizes and combine it with our Post-to-Post Rail Support.
  3. Don’t forget Fittings and Cable Infill to complete your cable railing!

Beyond strength, Alaskan Yellow Cedar offers a uniquely vibrant sunshine color, which can easily be preserved using PENETRATING OIL TREATMENT following installation. That said, it is typically recommended that this wood be left untreated for the first year, allowing the yellow to soften to a beautiful silver that pairs particularly well with our Square and Round Stainless Posts.

If you would prefer a matching full wood railing system, we offer Posts and Top Rails made from Western Red Cedar. If you’re more interested in rich, exotic wood species, we offer Balau Mahogany and Ipe Brazilian Walnut. For more detailed descriptions of our wood products’ purposes and applications, consult our Wood Installation Instructions and Special Terms for Wood Orders.
